How many businesses actually have an email address on file

What our customers say
Deliverability
Why most bought lists bounce, and what we do about it
A cheap list bounces because nobody removed the dead domains, the catch-all servers and the people who left three years ago. Of 27,780,354 business email addresses we hold, 21,172,290 are tied to a named person rather than a generic inbox.
Syntax and domain
Malformed addresses and dead domains are dropped before anything else. This alone removes most of what makes a cheap list bounce.
Mailbox check
The receiving server is asked whether the mailbox exists, without sending a message. Catch-all domains are flagged rather than silently passed off as valid.
Role address handling
Generic inboxes such as info@ and sales@ are labelled, not hidden. Some campaigns want them, most do not, so you decide instead of finding out after the send.
Monthly refresh
People change jobs and businesses close. The set is refreshed monthly, so you are not mailing a contact who left two years ago.
The legal question
Is it legal to buy an email list?
It depends on where you are sending, and the differences are bigger than most suppliers let on. A single “GDPR compliant” badge does not survive contact with three different legal regimes.
United States. CAN-SPAM permits unsolicited commercial email to business addresses. You must identify yourself honestly, include a physical postal address and honour opt-outs promptly. Prior consent is not required.
EU and UK. Business-to-business email to corporate addresses is generally handled under legitimate interest, balanced against the recipient’s right to object, with the source of the data disclosed. Rules differ per member state, and sole traders count as individuals rather than companies.
Germany. The strict outlier. Under section 7 UWG, email advertising normally requires prior consent even between businesses. Plan German campaigns on that basis rather than assuming the wider EU approach carries over.
What we provide is data from official registers with a documented origin and lawful basis per field, plus the ability to exclude sole traders so your selection contains only legal entities. What we do not claim is that buying data settles the question for your campaign. That assessment belongs before the first send. Our data sources are published in full.
