What is a company registration number?
A company registration number is the identifier a government trade register assigns when a business incorporates or registers. It is the closest thing a business has to a passport number: unique within its register, stable for the life of the entity, and the anchor for every official filing that follows.
It is not the same as a VAT number or a tax ID, which the tax authority issues separately and which can change or lapse while the registration number stays. When you verify a business, the registration number plus the issuing register is the pair that uniquely identifies it worldwide.
