The stakes
When a bank, fintech or marketplace picks a KYB provider, the first question is always the same. Do you cover the countries our customers come from? Not "most of them." All of them, including the one that shows up next quarter. A KYB provider is judged on the market it cannot check.
Behind that question sits a lot of unglamorous work. Every country runs its own company register, in its own language, with its own identifier scheme, its own legal forms and its own rules on what is public. Connecting to one register is a project. Connecting to two hundred is a company in itself.
The mandate
The KYB runs business verification and due diligence for banking, fintech, crypto, e-commerce, gaming and insurance customers. Its platform covers company verification, UBO identification, AML screening, ongoing monitoring and document retrieval. Registry data is not a feature of that product. It is the foundation every check stands on.
The KYB needed that foundation to be wide, current and consistent. One way to ask about a company in Germany, Brazil or Singapore, and one shape of answer back. So its own team could spend time on the verification workflow, not on keeping hundreds of registry connections alive.
What we supply
The registry layer. Through our company data API, The KYB queries 374 million companies sourced from official registers across 200+ countries. Every response comes back in one schema: legal name, registration number, legal form, current status, registered address, officers. A UK limited company and a Mexican sociedad anónima look the same to The KYB's code.
When a register changes its format or access rules, we absorb the change. When a new market comes online, it shows up in the same API. The KYB's integration does not move.
What changed
When a prospect asks The KYB whether it covers their markets, the answer no longer depends on which registry connections someone built last year. Coverage is a property of the integration, not a backlog item. The KYB's engineers build the verification product. The registry plumbing is ours.
Why it matters
A KYB provider sells trust in a company record. That trust starts at the official register. We bring every register to one API. Need the same data in bulk? See our company database.
