Farmers in the UK

Last updated

UK farming covers around 209,000 holdings recorded by Defra, ranging from large arable estates in East Anglia and the Scottish Borders to upland livestock farms in Wales, the Lake District and the Highlands. The industry splits into arable (cereals, oilseeds, sugar beet), livestock (beef, sheep, pigs, poultry), dairy, horticulture (top fruit, soft fruit, vegetables, ornamentals) and mixed farms. The National Farmers' Union (NFU) and its regional counterparts NFU Scotland, NFU Cymru and the Ulster Farmers' Union represent the trade, alongside the Tenant Farmers Association and the Country Land and Business Association (CLA). Farmer-owned co-ops Arla Foods UK, Mole Valley Farmers and Openfield aggregate the supply side. This page lists all 64,131 active UK farming businesses registered with Companies House across 198 regions, covering arable, livestock, dairy, poultry, horticulture and mixed farms. Filter by region, employee size and revenue, then export to Excel or build an email or mailing list for input-supply, machinery, agri-tech, finance and B2B sales.
