Indonesia Company Register: How to Search AHU Online and Verify Indonesian Companies (2026)

Indonesia's company register is open to the public by law, but reading a record means paying for it. Searching AHU Online costs nothing, while each company record is a paid download, ordered with a voucher, paid through Indonesian payment channels, and delivered by email. A company also carries three identifiers from three systems: the ministry decree, the NIB, and the tax number. This guide shows you how the search works, what each download costs, and how to verify an Indonesian company step by step. CompanyData holds 2,984,044 Indonesian company records.

1. What is the Indonesian company register?

Indonesia's 2007 Company Law (Law 40 of 2007 on Limited Liability Companies) says the Daftar Perseroan, the Company Register, is kept by the Minister and is open to the public. In practice it is run by the Direktorat Jenderal Administrasi Hukum Umum (Directorate General of General Legal Administration, Ditjen AHU) at the Ministry of Law, Kementerian Hukum, and it lives online as AHU Online at ahu.go.id. Older AHU pages and regulations still use the ministry's previous name, Kementerian Hukum dan Hak Asasi Manusia (Kemenkumham).

Founders set up a PT through a notary, who draws up the deed of establishment in Indonesian, and the application for approval goes to the Minister electronically through AHU's Sistem Administrasi Badan Hukum (SABH). The PT becomes a legal entity on the date of the Minister's decree approving it, and the Minister announces the deed in the Tambahan Berita Negara, the supplement to the State Gazette. Partnerships (the CV, the firma, and the civil partnership) and cooperatives go through a second AHU system, the Sistem Administrasi Badan Usaha (SABU).

SystemWhat it holdsAccess
AHU Online, SABH ahu.go.idPTs, one-person companies (Perseroan Perorangan), foundations (yayasan), and associations (perkumpulan): founding, amendments, dissolution, and annual report notificationsSearch free, data downloads paid
AHU Online, SABU ahu.go.idLimited partnerships (CV), general partnerships (firma), and civil partnerships registered under the 2018 rules, plus cooperatives (koperasi)Search free, data downloads paid

OSS oss.go.idThe NIB business identification number, business licences by risk level, and KBLI activity codesNIB free to obtain, validity check online

In short: AHU records that a company legally exists and, by law, who sits on its board and holds its shares; OSS issues its business identity and the licences that go with it; and the tax directorate issues its tax number.

3. What data is public and what it costs

The register's fees are set in a government regulation, PP 30/2026 on non-tax state revenue at the Ministry of Law. It has applied since 1 August 2026 and replaced the fee schedule of PP 45/2024. The schedule prices the data downloads and lists no fee for the PT name search, so you can look for free and pay the moment you want to read a record.

Two things matter for a buyer abroad. First, every record is paid per company, and the voucher is paid through Indonesian channels: a bank teller, an ATM, mobile or internet banking, an EDC terminal, or the Tokopedia and Bukalapak marketplaces. Second, the voucher form asks for a 16-digit NIK or NPWP, the Indonesian identity number or tax number, which a buyer outside Indonesia may not have. A refund of a voucher payment takes 14 working days at AHU and then, by AHU's own estimate, three to four months at a Ministry of Finance treasury office.

As for what the register holds: Article 29 of the Company Law lists name and seat, purpose and activities, duration, capital, full address, the numbers and dates of the deeds and decrees, the notary, the full names and addresses of shareholders, directors, and commissioners, and any dissolution. It includes the balance sheet and profit and loss account only for companies that must be audited. There is no phone number, email address, or employee count in that list, and no financial statements for companies outside the audit duty. We could not confirm which of these fields the paid AHU downloads actually contain.

5. How to verify an Indonesian company: a practical checklist

  1. Confirm the name and the legal form

Check that the name you were given starts with PT (and, for a public company, ends with Tbk), and search it in the matching AHU Online category. CVs and firms have their own search, separate from PTs. For a quick first pass, our free company lookup finds the registration and revenue data in one search.
  2. Ask for the approval decree and compare it

The Company Register records the number and date of the deed of establishment and of the Minister's approval decree (Surat Keputusan, or SK). Ask the company for its SK and its latest amendment, and check both against the AHU data you buy. A PT only becomes a legal entity on the date of that decree.
  3. Buy the latest data and check the board

Start with the latest-change data at IDR 100,000. By law the register holds the names and addresses of shareholders, directors, and commissioners, so check whether the person signing is listed in the data you receive. Note that AHU Online cannot record titles outside the Company Law, such as CEO or vice president director, so a title on a business card may not exist in the register.
  4. Check the NIB on OSS

Ask for the NIB and check it on OSS, which offers a validity check for NIB numbers. An AHU decree alone does not show that the company holds a business identity or the licences for what it does.
  5. Look up the beneficial owner

Search the company under Pemilik Manfaat on AHU Online. Under Presidential Regulation 13 of 2018, the beneficial owner of a PT is a natural person who meets any one of several criteria, such as holding more than 25% of the shares or voting rights or receiving more than 25% of the annual profit. AHU notes that this data is submitted by ministries or agencies, the corporation, notaries, or an authorised contact person, so treat it as declared data.
  6. Ask for the annual report and audited accounts

Under Ministerial Regulation 49 of 2025, a PT must deliver its annual report within six months of the end of its financial year, and a notary must submit it to the Minister within 30 days of the deed approving it. Audits are compulsory for public companies, persero companies, companies that collect or manage public funds or issue debt to the public, companies with assets or turnover of IDR 50 billion or more, and wherever another law requires one. If your counterparty falls in that group and cannot show audited accounts, ask why. A company that misses the filing can face administrative sanctions, and the fee schedule prices lifting a block for this at IDR 2,000,000 for audit-required companies and IDR 1,000,000 for the rest.

6. Limitations of the official register

For an Indonesian buyer checking one supplier, AHU Online is the official source at a modest price. The limits show up the moment you are abroad, need scale, or need data the register was not built to hold:

  • It may not open for you. ahu.go.id would not load for us (our capture browser could not open it, and direct connections timed out or were refused), and AHU runs a security filter that can refuse a request outright with an "Akses Ditolak" (access denied) page listing your IP address, country, and internet provider.
  • Indonesian only. AHU Online, its FAQ, and the fee schedule are in Indonesian. OSS has an English version, AHU does not.
  • Every record is paid and identity-gated. Data is sold per company, by voucher, and the voucher form asks for a 16-digit NIK or NPWP. Payment runs through Indonesian banks and marketplaces, and the voucher expires after seven days.
  • Results arrive by email. The data is sent to the address on the request, so every check depends on an inbox and on the request going through.
  • Gaps in coverage. PTs that never adjusted to the 2007 Company Law need a manual request, and partnerships are online only under the rules in force since 1 August 2018.
  • Three identifiers, a name-only search. The decree, the NIB, and the NPWP come from AHU, OSS, and the tax directorate, and the AHU PT search takes a name, not a number. Matching records across those systems is your job.
  • Financials for audited companies only. By law the register holds a balance sheet and profit and loss account only for companies that must be audited, and its statutory contents include no contact data or employee counts.
  • Activity codes are in transition. Business activities follow KBLI codes of up to five digits, and OSS now offers a KBLI 2020 to KBLI 2025 conversion tool, so a code in an older record may not match a newer licence.
  • No public API that we could find. We found no API documentation on AHU's pages. Bulk access is sold as packages of 100 records, at IDR 5,000,000 per package for PTs.

If you check one Indonesian supplier a year from Jakarta, none of this matters much. If you onboard hundreds from abroad, it is the whole problem.

7. Access AHU data programmatically

CompanyData maintains a normalized database of all 2,984,044 Indonesian entities, refreshed as new data appears. Records are structured into consistent fields and enriched with revenue, employees, industry codes, and contact data where we hold them. The register's statutory contents include no contact data or employee counts.

Our Company Data API lets you look up any Indonesian entity by name or address and get structured JSON back in real time, with 150 free lookups to start and no voucher, NIK, or NPWP required. It is used by developers, banks, and insurers across 190+ countries, so Indonesian checks work exactly like checks anywhere else.

Example: look up a company by name

GET /v1/companies?country=ID&name=Telkom%20Indonesia

We have left the response out on purpose. When we tried to look up Telkom Indonesia on AHU Online for this guide, the site would not open for us, so there is no register record to check a response against, and we do not print values we have not seen on the register. Run the request with your free lookups and compare the result with AHU's data yourself.

8. Indonesia vs other company registers

Indonesia makes its register public by law and then charges for every record, and the voucher form asks for an Indonesian ID or tax number. For context:

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about the Indonesia AHU Online (Ditjen AHU).

The search is free, the data is not. You can search AHU Online by name at no cost, but every company record is a paid download under PP 30/2026: IDR 100,000 for a PT's latest data and IDR 500,000 for its complete data, paid by voucher and delivered by email.
AHU Online is the online system of the Directorate General of General Legal Administration (Direktorat Jenderal Administrasi Hukum Umum, Ditjen AHU) at Indonesia's Ministry of Law. It runs the Company Register (Daftar Perseroan) for PTs and the registers of foundations and associations through SABH, the registration of CVs, firms, civil partnerships, and cooperatives through SABU, and the beneficial-owner application (Pemilik Manfaat Korporasi).
It depends on the system. The Company Register records the number and date of the Minister's decree (SK) approving the PT. The OSS licensing system issues the NIB, which it calls the official identity for starting or running a business, and the tax directorate issues the NPWP tax number. AHU's PT search runs on the company name, so ask for all three and record which one you matched on.
AHU at the Ministry of Law records a company's legal existence: its deed, its approval decree, its board, and its shareholders. OSS, the online licensing system, issues the NIB, which it calls the official identity for starting or running a business, and the business licences based on risk level. OSS offers an online check of whether an NIB is valid.
We found no public API documentation on AHU's pages. Bulk data is sold as packages of 100 records, at IDR 5,000,000 per package for PTs and IDR 3,000,000 for one-person companies and partnerships, and institutional requests (Permohonan Instansi) go to a separate download application. For immediate structured access, use our Company Data API.
No. AHU Online, its FAQ, and the official fee schedule are in Indonesian only, and the AHU pages we read offer no English option. The OSS licensing portal does have an English version.
Not easily. The AHU voucher form asks for a 16-digit NIK, the Indonesian identity number, or an NPWP tax number, and payment runs through Indonesian banks, ATMs, EDC terminals, or the Tokopedia and Bukalapak marketplaces. The voucher expires seven days after ordering.
Only for some companies, by law. The Company Register holds the balance sheet and profit and loss account of companies that must be audited: public companies, persero companies, companies that collect or manage public funds or issue debt to the public, those with assets or turnover of IDR 50 billion or more, and any company another law requires to be audited. We could not confirm whether the paid AHU downloads include these statements. Under Ministerial Regulation 49 of 2025, every PT must deliver its annual report within six months of its year end, and a notary submits it to the Minister. For financial data at scale, see our Indonesian company records with financials.
Use the Pemilik Manfaat search on AHU Online: pick the entity type and enter the name without PT, CV, or a similar prefix. Under Presidential Regulation 13 of 2018, the beneficial owner of a PT is a natural person who meets any one of several criteria, such as holding more than 25% of the shares or voting rights. The data is submitted by ministries or agencies, the corporation, notaries, or an authorised contact person.
The online data for CVs, firms, and civil partnerships covers entities registered under Permenkumham 17/2018, in force since 1 August 2018. AHU's FAQ says a CV that was registered at a district court before then can be recorded in SABU, so an older CV may not have been recorded yet. Also check that you are searching under Badan Usaha Non Badan Hukum, not the PT search.
